Benefits of Papaya Seed Oil for Skin and How to Use It?

Today papaya is cultivated in many countries with warm climates, and its oil has light yellow color, and no scent.

The oil itself is light and non-greasy, and it gets easily absorbed by the skin.

It is rich in vitamins (A, B, C and E), has powerful antioxidant properties, and contains papain - an enzyme, responsible for protein breakdown during digestion.

Papain is very beneficial for skin: it can reduce swelling and puffiness, helps in acne and psoriasis treatment.

How to Use Papaya Seed Oil for Skin

1. Acne Remedy

Papaya seed oil has anti-inflammatory and scar-reducing properties, and its comedogenic rating is 2.

To use it for acne, combine ½ cup of papaya seed oil, 10 drops of roman chamomile oil, 10 drops of tea tree oil, and 5 drops of geranium oil in a 4 oz amber glass dropper bottle.

Use this mixture for acne spot treatment every few hours.

2. Acne Scars

Papaya oil has skin lightening properties, which is helpful in reducing acne scars, wound scars, and even stretch marks.

To use: mix 1 teaspoon of papaya seed oil with 5 drops of lemon grass essential oil, and apply where needed.

3. Uneven Skin Tone

Papaya seed oil can effectively correct an uneven skin tone and reduce hyperpigmentation.

You can either use it directly, or mix with other essential oils: combine 1/2 cup of papaya seed oil, 5 drops of geranium oil, and 8 drops of carrot seed oil in a 4 oz amber glass dropper bottle.

4. Gentle Exfoliation

Here is a recipe for weekly face exfoliation routine: simply mix ½ teaspoon of papaya seed oil with 1 teaspoon of baking soda, rub the mixture onto your face, then after 2 minutes wash it off with warm water.

5. Face Wash

You can have nice oil cleansing with papaya seed oil and other ingredients.

The recipe of the face wash is very simple: combine papaya seed oil and castor oil in equal parts, then massage the mixture onto your face.

After that, to open up the pores, place a warm and wet (but not dripping) microfiber cloth on you face.

After a little while, wipe off the oil from your face. Repeat the process, if you feel your skin is not clean enough yet.

Notes

The best time for using papaya seed oil is before going to bed.

Since this oil has skin whitening and exfoliating properties, avoid sun exposure within one hour after application, because it may increase the skin damage from the UV rays.
