This tom cat fights to defend his territory.

May 17, 2018. The cat was not eating and would not take anti-pain and antibiotic tablet medication prescribed for him 2 days ago. So the owner consulted me. The beloved tom cat was missing for a few days. "He was neutered," the lady owner told me. "Who could have done it?" There was another cat caregiver but it was unlikely to be her doing. "He could have gone into another neighbourhood and some kind person got him neutered!". The cat now has less inclination to go out. However, 2 days after treatment, he went out at night. Now he has a swollen right face and a long scar. Possibly a cat scratch abscess. The cat's ears were cleaned. Painkillers were given. The cat went home. I advised not letting him wander as there are great risks of infection from fight wounds. This tough cat with the thick skin had fought off an invading tom cat in his territory as witnessed by his owner. Infections in his face on both sides and ears caused great pain and so he did not want to eat.
