Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Master the Mini Toolbar in Excel | Excel Tutorial.

Welcome to the first MrExcel netcast of 2007! This year is going to be an exciting one for Excel fans, with the release of Excel 2007 on January 30th. As always, I'll be sharing new Excel tricks every Tuesday and Thursday, and today we're diving into the Mini Toolbar.

The Mini Toolbar is a handy feature that can be found in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. However, it can be a bit tricky to get it to work in Excel. Whenever you select data in Excel, the Mini Toolbar is available, but it starts off completely invisible. To make it appear, you have to select the text and then move your mouse pointer up and to the right.

This can be frustrating for those of us who have learned to select text from the end and drag to the left. In this case, the Mini Toolbar never shows up. But fear not, there is a solution! After selecting the text, simply move your mouse up and to the right to reveal the Mini Toolbar. This toolbar contains all the formatting options that used to be found on the formatting toolbar, making it quick and easy to change the color, font, size, and more.

Just remember, if you move too far away from the selected text, the Mini Toolbar will fade away. But don't worry, you can always bring it back by moving your mouse back towards the text. And if you select a cell and right-click, the Mini Toolbar will also appear, allowing you to format the entire cell. This feature may be more commonly used in Word and PowerPoint, but it can still be a useful tool in Excel, especially when working with charts.

Thanks for tuning in to today's netcast, and be sure to join me tomorrow for another Excel tip from MrExcel. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more helpful Excel tutorials. See you next time!
