Microsoft Excel Tutorial:  Improve Data Visualization in Excel with Right Indent.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In today's video, we have a great tip from Joanna in Columbus, Ohio. I often talk about the different conditional formatting options in Excel 2007, such as data bars and color scales, but I've never been a big fan of icon sets. The reason for this is because the icons are always left-justified, which can be misleading when trying to interpret the data. For example, a green icon may appear next to a number that it doesn't actually correspond to.

But thanks to Joanna's tip, I've discovered a solution to this problem. In the Format Cells menu, there is an option called Right Indent. By using this feature, we can control the number of characters we want to indent and effectively move the numbers closer to the icons. This creates a more accurate and visually appealing representation of the data. No more having to center the numbers, which can make them look messy and unprofessional.

Excel 2007 offers a new visualization called an Icon Set. I usually hate this feature, because my numbers are right justified and the icons are left justified. However, in Episode 879, Joanna from Columbus, Ohio offers a cool tip to get the numbers and icons next to each other.
