Phillip Sear plays Drdla's own piano arrangement of this famous 1904 violin piece. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Czech composer František (aka Franz) Drdla (1868-1944) studied in Prague and Vienna (where his teachers included Bruckner and Hellmesberger) and made a career as a touring concert violinist and also a composer of operetta and other works. 'Souvenir' (from 1904, with this piano version appearing in 1906) was one of his best-known works. He specialized in arranging Czech-sounding melodies in Viennese style.
