The Sicilian composer Francesco Paolo Frontini (1860-1939) was born in Catania. He studied in Palermo and Naples and is remembered today for his operas and church music - but principally for songs and shorter orchestral pieces. This once-popular piece comes from a set of orchestral oriental scenes, and is dedicated to Massenet.
