Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Pivot Table Tricks: Separate Regions with Blank Rows or Page Breaks.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast where we share tips and tricks to help you become an Excel pro. In our last video, we showed you how to color rows in a pivot table, and today we have another great trick to share with you. 
Have you ever wanted to separate your pivot table by a blank row or even a page break? Well, it's actually quite simple. Just double-click on the field you want to separate, in this case, the region field, and click on the layout button. From there, you can choose to insert a blank line or a page break after each item. 
Let's take a look at the print preview. As you can see, each region is now separated by a blank row. This is a great way to organize your pivot table and make it easier to read. But what if you want each region to be on a different page? No problem, just choose the option to insert a page break after each item. 
Now, let's address a common issue with pivot tables - the grand total. As you can see, the West region is getting the grand total, which may not be ideal. To fix this, you would have to manually add a page break between the grand total and the West region. But with the insert page break option, this can be done automatically.

Say that you have a pivot table with region and product in the row area. If you would like a blank row between each region, or even a page break between each region, change the Layout properties for the field. Episode 503 shows you how.
