Economists at the Standard Chartered Bank project Kenya’s economy to expand 4.6 percent this year before accelerating to 5.4 percent next year supported by recovery in agriculture, improved tourist inflows and enhanced manufacturing sector. Chief Economist Razia Khan says high retail fuel prices and the public debt could slow the Kenyan economy this year. Standard Chartered Bank has offered the lowest economic growth projection for Kenya this year after Barclays Bank projected a 5.5 percent expansion while Central Bank Governor Dr. Patrick Njoroge predicts a 6.2 percent GDP growth.
