Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Store Your Excel Validation Lists On another Worksheet.

Welcome back to the MrExcel Netcast! In this video, we'll be discussing how to set up data validation lists on another worksheet. This is a common question that many Excel users have, and I'm here to provide a simple solution.

In our previous video, Brent asked about data validation and how to set it up on another worksheet. As I mentioned, this is not a valid option in Excel. However, there is a workaround that can make this possible. Instead of hiding your data validation list on the right-hand side of your worksheet, you can create a second worksheet and set up your list there.

To do this, simply select your list and give it a name, such as "My List". Then, go back to your original worksheet and set up your data validation by selecting "list" and entering the source as "My List". This trick will make Excel think that the list is on the current worksheet, when in reality it is on the second worksheet.

This method has many benefits. Not only does it prevent accidental deletion of your data validation list, but you can also hide the second worksheet to keep it out of sight. This way, your list remains safe and secure, while still being easily accessible for data validation purposes.
