I flew Skill Aviation's DA40 from Waukegan, IL (UGN) to Greenwood, IN (HFY). The weather at Waukegan was marginal VFR, and there was an AIRMET for IFR along the entire route. I decided to go forward with the flight because Indianapolis was predicting broken to scattered clouds and marginal VFR conditions by the time I would land. I also had the option of landing a bit further South at Columbia Airport, IN which was reporting good VFR. I had full tanks and plenty of options. About 20 miles North of Indy, I contacted Indy Approach and they vectored me South East across their airspace. Then, just 2.5 miles East of greenwood I saw a big opening in the clouds and decided to cancel flight following and descend below the clouds and land. It worked out perfect! Enjoy this video.
