Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Suppress the Getting Started pane in Excel.

Welcome back to another MrExcel netcast! I'm Bill Jelen and today we're going to tackle a common annoyance for many Excel users - the GETTING STARTED pane. Every time we open Excel, this pesky pane appears on the right-hand side, showing our recently opened files and a search bar. While some may find this feature useful, others, like myself, find it to be a nuisance and close it every time.

But did you know that there's a way to permanently get rid of the GETTING STARTED pane? That's right, no more closing it every time you open Excel. All you have to do is go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on the VIEW tab. From there, simply uncheck the box next to STARTUP TASK PANE and click OK. Now, when you open Excel, you'll be greeted with a blank spreadsheet instead of the GETTING STARTED pane.

It's a simple little tip, but it can save you a lot of frustration in the long run. So go ahead and give it a try and say goodbye to the GETTING STARTED pane for good. Every time you start Excel, Microsoft pops up the Getting Started pane. If this annoys you and you constantly close it without using it, follow the instructions in Episode 796 to prevent this pane from appearing.
