Microsoft Excel Tutorial: New Books - Excel for the CEO & Excel for Auditors. Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! I'm Bill Jelen and I have some exciting news to share with you. We have two new books that just came out this week - "Excel for the CEO" and "Excel for Auditors". "Excel for the CEO" is perfect for anyone new to Excel or those running a small business. And "Excel for Auditors" is a comprehensive guide on how auditors can utilize Excel in their work. Both books are filled with practical examples and tips that will help you excel in your Excel skills. Speaking of auditors, I will be in New Jersey this Thursday, October 19th, 2006, for a power Excel seminar hosted by the Institute of Internal Auditors. Even if you're not an auditor, you are more than welcome to attend and learn some great Excel tips that are useful for everyone. If you can't make it to New Jersey, don't worry, I have upcoming dates in Boise, Akron, Columbus, Indiana, Cleveland, and Green Bay. Check out our website for more information on these events. I would love to meet some of our podcast viewers, so make sure to come up and say hi! Now, let's dive into a quick example from "Excel for Auditors". One of the common tasks in Excel is finding a unique list of customers from a large database. The typical way to do this is by using the Advanced Filter, which can be a bit complicated. But here's a better and simpler way - create a Pivot table! Just select a single cell in your data, go to Data, PivotTable and PivotChart Report, and click Finish. Then, double-click on the Customer field and voila! You have a unique list of customers. To use this list, simply copy and Paste Special Values to wherever you need it and then delete the Pivot table. Using a Pivot table is a much faster and easier way to create a unique list of anything in Excel. Thank you for tuning in to this netcast from MrExcel. Don't forget to check out our new books and upcoming events. And if you have any suggestions for future topics, please leave them in the comments below. See you next time!
