A brush rabbit ventures out into a beach parking lot to drink from a puddle, which might have some salt and sand in it. Although this rabbit lives next to the Pacific Ocean, the ocean's water is largely inaccessible as the water off the California coast is both too salty and too cold to generate frequent precipitation even a few feet inland. Brush rabbits are much bolder than desert cottontails and hares, and will not flee unless you are within a few feet of them.
