CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Officials at the Cincinnati Museum Center officially announce they'll back the sales tax increase on the November ballot, even though it does not include Music Hall.

There have been a lot of questions about how the Museum Center would handle this particular ballot initiative to raise funds for restoration. The initial proposal to Hamilton County Commissioners was to raise the sales tax a quarter-of-a cent to raise money for both landmarks. At the last minute, Music Hall was taken out of the equation.

At a news conference this morning, the chair of the Museum Center Board of Trustees said "We are announcing today our intention to pursue the full restoration of union terminal using private donations, historic tax credits and grants and the proceeds from the five year quarter cent sales tax increase approved for the ballot this fall."

A cultural task force determined that Union Terminal will need close to $170 million to make needed repairs and keep it intact for generations to come.
