OXFORD, Ohio (Brad Underwood) -- Police found two people dead inside an Oxford apartment. One of them was a female student at Miami University.

According to police, both the female student and a young man were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police did find a gun with the two bodies.

Police say they are not looking for any suspects at this time as the incident appears to be a murder-suicide.

Oxford Police Officers were responding to a smoke alarm in building number 8 at the Level 27 Apartments after a smoke detector went off in a bedroom.

The door was closed and locked, after kicking in the door, police found the two bodies.

As far as I know, it doesn't appear that there was a struggle, said Oxford Police Department Sergeant John Varley. As to the placement of the bodies exactly I don't know"

Police do know the identities of the two but did not release them pending family notification.

Police believe both are in their late teens or early 20's.

The female is a Miami University student, the man is not.

"At this time we are still investigating as to what their relationship is, how well they knew each other, said Sergeant Varley. We don't believe that this part of any type of ongoing threat. We believe that this is an isolated incident and that nobody else is in danger. "

Miami University released a statement from its President, David Hodge saying quote: This is a terrible tragedy. Our hearts go out to the families and friends. It is an incredibly painful and sad time for Miami."

The female student lived in the apartment where the two bodies were found.

Police say the roommates were home at the time of the smoke alarm but police don't believe anyone else was in the apartment whenever the shootings occurred.

Oxford police said the two are from the Columbus area.

Investigators expect to release their names tomorrow after their families have been notified and the coroner has examined their bodies.

Miami University is providing counseling services for students who need it.
