Chattanooga Holds Employment Lottery

On Monday, the city of Chattanooga selected 30 candidates for a workforce development program using a lottery system. One by one, participants were selected for the Tubman Demolition job training program. The Urban League helped recruit job applicants. Five alternates were also selected just in case any of those thirty can not complete the program. The director for the office of multi-cultural affairs said he is excited for the next steps. 'We actually had 100 people that came through and filled out all of the registration forms. A lottery just seemed like the easiest way to make a selection of who got to participate,' said James Mckissic. Anyone who signed up for the lottery will also be registered for the Urban League's other job development programs.
