Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Add Frequently Used Commands to QAT in Excel. Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! I'm Bill Jelen and since the beginning of the year, I've made a resolution to use Excel 2007 and read up on all the latest features. However, it hasn't always been my go-to choice. In this week's podcast, we've been discussing Jim's question on how to consolidate data from different worksheets. As I reflected on what was driving me crazy about the new Excel, I realized that one of the biggest frustrations for me was sorting data. In previous versions of Excel, we had a convenient AtoZ button for sorting data, but in Excel 2007, it's a two-click process. You either have to open the SORT & FILTER menu and choose SMALLEST TO LARGEST, or click on DATA and then AtoZ. Wouldn't it be easier if we had one-click access to this feature? That's where the Quick Access Toolbar comes in. By default, the Quick Access Toolbar is located above the ribbon with only three icons. However, I prefer to have it below the ribbon for easier access and more space for icons. You can right-click on the toolbar and select "Show Below the Ribbon" to make this change. Now, whenever you come across a command that you wish was easily accessible, simply right-click on it and select "Add to Quick Access Toolbar." This way, you'll have all your frequently used commands in one convenient location. In this week's podcast, we've discussed four different ways to solve Jim's problem of consolidating data from different worksheets. If you have a different method that you'd like to share, please feel free to drop me a note at [email protected]. I'd love to hear from you and feature your method in a future podcast.
