Microsoft Excel Tutorial:  Learn How to Change Comment Shape in Excel.

Welcome to another episode of Where Is It Wednesday, brought to you by George Wood's theme song. Today's question comes from Cullen in Houston, and it's a good one. Cullen wants to know how to change the shape of a cell comment in Excel 2007. This used to be a feature in Excel 2003, but it seems to have disappeared in the newer version. Well, fear not, because I have the solution for you.

First, let's insert a comment by going to the Reviewing Toolbar and clicking on New Comment. As you can see, there is no option to change the shape of the comment in the comment box. So, where do we go from here? We head to the Insert tab and look for the Shapes option. But unfortunately, that doesn't work either. So, where is this elusive feature hiding?

Well, after some digging, I found the solution. We need to go to the Office icon, then Excel Options, and then Customize. From there, we go to All Commands and look for the option called "Change AutoShape." Once we add this to the Quick Access Toolbar, we can easily change the shape of our comment by clicking on the icon and selecting a new shape. It's that simple!

But what if you already have a comment in your spreadsheet? No problem. Just right-click on the cell and select Show/Hide Comments. This will allow you to select the comment and change its shape using the same method as before. And if you want to go back to the original shape, just right-click and select Hide Comment. It's a great way to make your comments stand out and add some visual interest to your spreadsheet.
