Kenyan Everline Odero beat Zimbabwe’s Monalisa Sibanda on a unanimous points decision to be crowned the World International Boxing Association (WIBA) World super lightweight champion.
Odero scored 100-90, 99-97 and 100-90 and also knocked down the Zimbabwean twice at the Treasure Gardens. She stretched her record to nine wins, nine loses and two draws. The bout was promoted by Peter Kuya of Osaga Promotion. In the under card bouts, Kenyan Jane Kavulani beat Uganda Aciro Small in their lightweight bout, Kenyan Aziz Ali beat Yobe Abbas from Uganda in their cruiserweight contest while Kenya’s George Owano got a technical knockout victory against Uganda’s Kidega Dragon. Among the fans who enjoyed the action was World Boxing Council (WBC) World super bantamweight champion Fatuma Zarika, who had just arrived from Britain ahead of her title defence next Saturday.
