KETTERING -- Another icy commute around the Miami Valley A new round of snow is headed our way, but we are still recovering from the latest winter storm.Snow- and ice-covered roads continue to be a problem and some of the biggest trouble spots are in Kettering. In most cities, side streets are the biggest hazard for drivers. City workers say this snow has been especially hard to plow.First it came down fine, then thick heavy snow and freezing rain followed creating dense layers. In Kettering, officials say there is more lane miles to cover compared to surrounding communities. So, if you live on a cul-de-sac or flat street it is going to take a little longer to get to you. City officials say their goal is to have the entire city plowed 24 to 36 hours after a snow storm. If you are turning onto a side street or into a parking lot, anywhere that is still icy, make sure you use the typical precautions like slowing down.
