WASHINGTON (WKRC) - One of President-elect Donald Trump's top campaign promises was to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act and it got on the fast track. Early Thursday morning, January 12, the Senate took its first step towards dismantling the system. After seven hours of debate, Senators voted, 51 to 48, to approve a budget resolution that would dismantle “Obamacare” but it was bitter debate before that vote. Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown (D) was among those who voted against the measure to do away with the Affordable Care Act. He blasted supporters for moving to repeal the plan without a replacement. “I listened to Governor Kasich who has admonished his Republican friends in Washington that you don't take this insurance away from 700,000 Ohioians without replacing it immediately. And that's not what happened last night and that's not what they're doing,” said Senator Brown. The House will vote on the measure Friday, January 13.
