Child rights groups are expressing concern over the increase in child trafficking as the globe marks the international children’s day. The African network for the prevention and protection against child abuse and neglect association has attributed the increase in child trafficking to poverty, underage pregnancies and child neglect. The group which held a meeting with members of parliament in Nairobi, challenged legislators to put in place laws to ensure prevention, and protection of children as well as prosecution of child traffic offenders. At the same time they called for sensitization programs on ways to tackle child trafficking.
