The story behind the name of this pose is one of the best Hindu myth I heard. Listen carefully! There was a powerful priest named Daksha. Daksha had a ritual sacrifice, but he didn’t invite his youngest daughter, Sati, or her husband, Shiva the chief of the gods. Sati found out about this ritual that she was not invited to and felt the need to show up and essentially crash his sacrificial party. In this moment of frustration she and her father, Daksha got in a fierce fight. As the fight between Daksha and Sati persisted, Sati was hurt not only by the lack of invite to this sacrifice, but also by her father's harsh words and insults. Due to this pain, Sati threw herself into the sacrificial fire and perished! Shiva, Sati's husband, soon heard about Sati's sacrifice of herself and he was simply devastated. In a moment of grief and devastation he tore out a lock of his hair and pounded it into the ground with fury. This lock of hair that was beaten into the ground transformed into a powerful warrior. Shiva named this warrior Virabhadra, Vira meaning hero and bhadra meaning friend. He sent Virabhadra to the party to find Daksha, to kill him, and to destroy all of his guests. In Warrior 1, Virabhadra arrives at the party with two swords in his hands, and now you know where this name came from :)
