The police are holding 78 people on charges of trafficking children from different parts of the country to Kampala, where they are begging for a living.

According to a ministerial task force created by cabinet this year, the suspects were found to be behind a racket of traffickers who have been running a business enterprise, sending children to beg on the streets. 

Nakiwala adds that over 156 illegal children homes in the slums of Katanga and other areas within Wakiso district were being used to house the over 20,000 street children.
