Here we have a stationary shot of the engine room of D335, one of the Class 40 Preservation Society machines taken on the 4th January 2008 whilst the locomotive was having an internal clean by CFPS member Karl Crowther and myself. One of the diesel lads had briefly turned the engine on to give it a general check for the following day when it was rostered to run on the East Lancashire Railway. Here we see in all its glory this 2000 hp engine built by the English Electric Company at Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, that entered service on 11th March 1961. The CFPS successfully tendered for the loco in May 1988, and she was delivered to Bury later that year. John Wantling, Rochdale, UK
