Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Add Paste Formulas Icon to Excel Toolbar.

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel netcast, where we answer all your burning Excel questions. I'm your host, Bill Jelen, and today we have a question from Eric in Shanghai. Eric wants to know if there's a way to add an icon for paste formulas to his customized toolbar. Well, Eric, you're in luck because in this episode, we'll show you exactly how to do that.

First, let's go over the basics of customizing your toolbar. This only works for Excel 97 through Excel 2003. Simply go to the Tools menu and select Customize. From there, you can drag and drop any icon from the dialog box onto your toolbar. In the Edit category, you'll find options for Paste Formatting, which you can add next to the Paste button and Paste Values. However, as you scroll through the options, you'll notice that there's no option for paste formulas.

But don't worry, there's a workaround for this. You can actually take anything from the menu bar and copy it to your toolbar. At first, I didn't think this would work because the Edit menu only has an option for Paste Special, not Paste Formulas. However, if you look at the standard toolbar, you'll see a drop-down menu next to the Paste icon, which includes the option for Paste Formulas. You can simply drag and drop the word "Formulas" onto your toolbar while holding down the control key.

Now, you may notice that the icon for Paste Formulas is just the word itself, which can be a bit irritating. But don't worry, you can change it to an image by right-clicking on it and selecting "Change Button Image." You can choose from the available images or even create your own using the Icon Editor. And there you have it, Eric. Your customized toolbar now includes an icon for Paste Formulas. Thanks for sending in your question all the way from Shanghai, China. If you have a question of your own, don't hesitate to reach out to us and we'll feature it on a future podcast. Thanks for tuning in and we'll see you next time!"
