Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Undo Toolbar Customizations in Excel: How to Fix Any Customization Issues.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! I'm Bill Jelen and in today's episode, we're going to talk about how to undo toolbar customizations in Excel. Last week, Eric from Shanghai called in with a question about how to add the Paste Formulas icon to his toolbar. In the process of trying to help him, I managed to completely mess up my own toolbar and lose the Paste Special option. As you can imagine, this is a pretty important feature and I couldn't live without it. So, I want to share with you a simple solution to fix any toolbar customization issues you may encounter.

The first thing to keep in mind when customizing your toolbar is that there is always a way to undo any changes you make. Whether you accidentally add buttons you don't want or remove ones you need, you can always get back to the original toolbar. All you need to do is right-click on the menu bar or any toolbar and select "Customize". In our previous episode, I showed you how to use the Commands tab to add new buttons to your toolbar. But in this case, we want to go to the Toolbars tab at the bottom of the list.

Here, you will see an option for "Worksheet Menu Bar". Select it and then click on "Reset" to confirm. This will bring back all the original items on the worksheet menu bar, just as it was when you first installed Excel. And just like that, my Paste Special option is back! This method also works if you've inherited a computer from someone else and they have completely changed the toolbar. You can also reset your Standard and Formatting toolbars to get back to the original state. Once you're done, simply click "Close" and you'll have the original sub toolbars, just as Microsoft intended. Thanks for tuning in and I'll see you tomorrow for another netcast from MrExcel.
