Microsoft Excel Tutorial:  Mastering Formula Range Editing in Microsoft Excel.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast where we explore all things Excel. I'm Bill Jelen and today we're diving into the topic of editing formula ranges. 
In this video, I have a set of random numbers and I realize I need to add more numbers around them. To do this, I select the entire range and use the F5 key to bring up the "go to" menu. From there, I choose "special" and then "blanks" to select all the blank cells. Now, I can enter my formula to generate random numbers between five and thirty. By hitting Ctrl+Enter, the formula is entered into all the selected cells, filling in the blanks with the new numbers. 
But what if I want to change the range of my formula? Let's say I had a formula that was averaging all of my random numbers. By selecting the formula and hitting F2 to enter edit mode, I can see that the formula is averaging everything from A1 to C9. However, I want to include the new numbers I just added. Instead of typing in the new range, I can simply grab one of the blue selection handles and drag it to include the new cells. This trick also works with charts, allowing you to easily add new data. 
So there you have it, a quick and easy way to edit formula ranges using the blue selection handle. Next time you need to make changes to a formula, remember this handy tip.
