Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Excel Look for Double Billing with VBA Macro. Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! The question for today's video was sent in by Sean, who wanted to know if there was a way to audit a spreadsheet for any double billing. This is a common issue faced by businesses, where they need to check if any locations were billed twice. I will be using a similar situation from my book, Excel Gurus Gone Wild, to demonstrate how to solve this problem. Rather than digging out my book and figuring out the formula, I decided to quickly knock out some VBA code to solve this issue. I will be using a loop to go through each row of data and check for any duplicate locations. This method is much simpler and more efficient than using complex formulas. To make it easier for you to follow along, I have provided the VBA code in the video description. You can also find it in my book, Excel Gurus Gone Wild, or in my Power Macros for Excel class, which is available on DVD-ROM. This class is perfect for those who want to learn VBA and be able to write code like this to solve their Excel problems. Thank you, Sean, for sending in this question and thank you for watching this netcast from MrExcel. Don't forget to check out our website and Amazon for more Excel resources. The spreadsheet has billing data to audit. For each record, there is a location, a start date, and an end date. Shawn wants to find any records where the same date and location is double-billed. A quick two-loop macro solves this problem. Episode 1017 shows you how. This video is the podcast companion to the book, Learn Excel 97-2007 from MrExcel.
