Marsabit County is among regions with a rich culture highlighted by the indigenous 14 communities in the area. In 2008, during the inaugural Lake Turkana Cultural Festival, a local women group dubbed Mosaretu drawn from the Elmolo, Rendille, Turkana and Samburu communities initiated a desert museum to conserve cultural activities and artifacts of all the 14 local communities.
