Microsoft Excel Tutorial - Excel Charts with Data from Different Sheets - Excel Trick Revealed!

Welcome to another MrExcel netcast! In this video, I'll be sharing a cool trick that I learned at one of my recent seminars in Virginia. It's all about pasting data onto a chart in Excel, and it's a game-changer for those who work with charts regularly.

As you may already know, in Excel 2003, you can simply drag and drop new data onto a chart to update it. In Excel 2007, you can use the blue outline to achieve the same result. But what if your chart and data are not on the same worksheet? That's where this third method comes in handy.

Let's say we have a chart sheet with data for January, February, March, and April. Now, we have new data for May in a separate worksheet. Instead of manually updating the chart, we can simply copy the data (including the heading) using Ctrl+C and then paste it onto the chart using Ctrl+V. This trick works just like dragging and dropping, making it a quick and efficient way to update charts with data from different sheets.

So there you have it, a simple yet powerful trick to paste data onto a chart in Excel. I hope you found this tip helpful and will use it to save time and effort in your chart-making process.
