Recently, this 2.5-year-old dwarf hamster started to sleep on the edge of the white procelain feeding bowl. The owner showed me her handphone image of this behaviour. She presumed that the hamster felt uncomfortable and painful if he sleeps on the floor normally as the armpit abscess is hard and large at 1 cm x 0.5 cm x 0.5 cm. So, she decided on the surgery.

There is a high anaesthetic risk. I used Zoletil 50 IM and isoflurane gas. Electro-excised the hard lump and stitched up with 3 stitches 6/0 absorbable stitches. The hamster goes home. Handing over with inspection of the surgical site is shown in this video.
