Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos camera and video recording

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos camera is a 5 MP camera with Autofocus, no LED flash and no tap-to-focus capability. No front camera and hence no video calling. There is a significant shutter lag and this makes it easy to miss moments that you want to capture! So it is important that you make sure you are ready with the camera and have 2 seconds on your watch before you can snap a picture.

The 5 MP camera can take pictures with a resolution of up to 2592x1944 pixels which is fine. But, just a high resolution image does not imply that the picture is going to be high quality because image quality also depends on the aperture, focal length and many other factors of the camera sensor. I have uploaded a few sample pictures taken from the device so that you can get a better idea of how good the camera is. The camera can also record video but only in VGA quality which is 640 x 480 pixels (a little short of 720p) with a frame rate of 30 per second.

Don't for once think that this camera would be comparable to the iPhone 4's 5 MP camera, because it is not the same thing! An iPhone costs a lot more and now you should know why. All said; this camera is not as bad as it might sound. Check out the pictures and see it for yourself.

The stock camera app offers only as many options as is good for this camera. You have 3 shooting modes, 14 different scene modes, various exposure settings and other options such as setting white balance and focus modes, geo tagging, changing resolution and applying different effects.
