Microsoft Excel Tutorial: First Look at OneNote for Microsoft Office.

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel netcast. I'm Bill Jelen and today we're going to talk about a powerful tool that comes with the home edition of Office 2007 - Microsoft OneNote. Originally designed for college students, I have found OneNote to be an invaluable tool for organizing all aspects of my life. From meetings and to-do lists, to random thoughts and ideas, OneNote has become my go-to for keeping track of everything.

If you're new to OneNote, I highly recommend checking out our book "Unleash the Power of OneNote" available on Amazon or at MrExcel.com. While the book was written for OneNote 2003, the concepts still apply and we have a great sale going on right now. Trust me, once you start using OneNote, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.

So, let's dive into the basics of OneNote. Along the top, you'll see different notebooks, each with their own tabs on the right-hand side. These tabs represent pages, and each page can have a title and contain various types of content such as text, to-do lists, images, videos, and audio recordings. It's like having a virtual notebook where you can easily flip through pages and find what you need with a simple search function.

One of my favorite features of OneNote is the ability to record meetings and take notes simultaneously. With a microphone or webcam, you can easily capture audio and video directly into OneNote. And with the ability to copy unfinished tasks to the next day's to-do list, OneNote helps me stay on top of my daily tasks and priorities.

In the past, OneNote was only available as a standalone product for $100. But now, with the home edition of Office 2007, you can get OneNote along with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for just $125.
