Female medical issues such as endometriosis, menorrhagia, polycystic ovary syndrome, and related conditions can result in pain, cramping and other uncomfortable symptoms. If these conditions have resulted in job termination because of excessive absences, you may qualify for Social Security disability.

Social Security defines disability as the inability to engage in "substantial activity" because of a medical condition or condition that has lasted or is expected to last 12 consecutive months.

Even if you have returned to work following surgery or other treatment, you may qualify for a closed period of disability for the time you were not able to stay on the job.
