Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Discover the Time-Saving Paste Options Shortcuts in Excel 2010. Welcome back to the MeExcel netcast, where we dive into all things Excel. In today's episode, we're taking a sneak peek at Excel 2010. While the official release date is still a few months away, I'm lucky enough to be part of the beta group and have access to the technical preview. And let me tell you, there are some exciting new features coming our way. Now, usually when you're part of a beta group, there's a strict NDA (non-disclosure agreement) in place, meaning you can't talk about any of the features. But this year, Microsoft has given us the green light to discuss the features in the client. Of course, there are still some secrets they want to keep under wraps, but anything that's available in the Excel 2010 client, we can talk about. So, let's dive in and take a look at what's in store for us. One of my favorite new features in Excel 2010 is something that Microsoft isn't really talking about. It's a small, but mighty time-saver that I discovered while playing around with the beta version. Let's say you have a table with formulas and formatting that you want to copy and paste elsewhere. In the past, this would require multiple steps, such as opening the Paste menu, selecting Paste Values, and then going into Paste Special to choose formats and column widths. But with Excel 2010, all you need to do is press CTRL+C to copy and CTRL+V to paste, and then use the new Paste Options shortcut key to select the desired options. This may seem like a small change, but trust me, it will save you a lot of time and frustration. But that's not all, there are even more options available in the Paste Options menu, such as pasting values with numeric formatting, values with source formatting, and even pasting column widths. And the best part? Each option has its own shortcut key, making the process even faster and more efficient. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the new features in Excel 2010, as I often found them to be more glitz and glitter than practical tools. But this Paste Options shortcut key has truly won me over and I can't imagine going back to the old way of doing things. So, there you have it, my first tip for Excel 2010. Stay tuned for more episodes where we'll dive into other features that Microsoft is promoting, but for now, I highly recommend giving this new Paste Options shortcut key a try. Trust me, as someone who spends 40 hours a week in Excel, this small but powerful feature will make a huge difference in your productivity. Thanks for tuning in to the MeExcel netcast, and I'll see you next time for more Excel tips and tricks.
