Hemp Hearts seem to be all the rage lately — so I’ve been wanting to try them for quite some time. Here’s an excellent article that tells all about the health benefits if you’re interested https://www.chatelaine.com/health/diet/benefits-hemp-hearts/ but a quick summary is they may reduce inflammation and improve eczema, arthritis and muscle pain. They may also improve heart health and combat menopausal and PMS symptoms. Sounds great! They’re called Overnight ‘Oats’ because you want to mix the ingredients, cover and refrigerate - preferably overnight, but at least four hours. I found after five hours the mixture was VERY thick, which was nice — you can thin it if you like with a bit more cream or almond milk, OR you can warm it in the microwave a minute before eating. I liked it warm best — but it did thin out a bit, so don’t add extra milk until you’ve warmed it as you may not need it then. INGREDIENTS: • 3 tbsp Hemp Hearts • 1 tbsp natural Peanut Butter • 1 tsp Chia Seeds • 1 drop liquid Stevia (I added a few drops) • 3 tbsp unsweetened almond milk or heavy cream METHOD: 1. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight. 2. Serve cold, straight out of the refrigerator, or microwave on high for 20 to 30 seconds before serving.
