Chris and I play candlepin bowling at Mason Bowling Center in Leominster, Massachusetts. We both have our good moments, and bad. The pin action was a bit odd this time. We joke about the pins coming from "Lanes and Games", and mention that they must be covered in silicone, hence the pin action. Mason's zero-action pin plates kept most of it in-check. In all seriousness, my guess is that maintenance must've been done very recently, so the action was merely "Pain in the Ass" hard, not as hard as it usually is.
