Tri Tip Steak is one of my favorite Roasts to Grill. I bought this Tri-Tip Roast on sale and decided to experiment with a new technique. Instead of going with the typical Santa Maria Style Tri Tip Recipe, I decided to marinate it, and then Reverse Sear it.
 The Smoker I used was the Camp Chef Woodwind Pellet Grill. Typically I would have used the side sear box to sear the Steak to finish it off, but this was a larger Tri-Tip Roast that may not have fit on it. Instead I finished it off in the main cooking chamber and grilled it just under 450 degrees which did a good enough job for me.

****My Thoughts on the Marinade****
* The marinade lacked natural beef flavoring
* The marinade had a strong Italian dressing flavor to it
* The marinade took away from the natural beauty of a non 
   marinated tri tip
* The Marinade added to the cost to cook the steak
* Marinating adds to the cook time
*****I did add more time to the marinating process, that being said, the flavor is the flavor. The problem wasn't that it was overpowering, but that the flavor didn't really go with beef. I will use the remaining 2 bottles on chicken, which is something that this marinade would go well with****

The Smoker used to cook this Tri-Tip Steak was the Campchef Woodwind Pellet Grill. This was a pretty large roast, so I decided not to use the side sear box to finish it off. 
The Pellets I used were the Camp Chef Competition blend pellets, which seem to be my favorite of the pellets I have tried.
