Sabah Railway: RM6.7 Mln In Cash, Properties Seized

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission MACC has seized RM 6.7 million in cash and properties as part of its ongoing investigation involving Sabah Railway Department officers. State MACC director, Datuk Sazali Salbi said RM 4 million in cash was confiscated after graft busters inspected safe deposit boxes at several banks. Also, several properties in Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah worth RM 2.7 million have been seized. These properties belonged to the three senior Sabah Railway officers and a company director who were remanded yesterday over allegation of monopolising state railway projects. Most of the projects being probed are related to maintenance works and emergency allocation. Datuk Sazali said the seized properties were registered under the name of the four suspects and their family members. MACC had identified another six individuals and would be calling them up to have their statement recorded.
