Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Sort data where each record occupies three rows. Welcome to the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we'll be discussing a common issue faced by many Excel users - dealing with data that is spread out over multiple rows. This can be a frustrating problem, but fear not, as we have a solution for you. The question for today's episode comes from Eric, who has a spreadsheet where each record takes up three rows. This means that there is data in the grey section, followed by numbers in the yellow section, and then more numbers in the white section. To make matters worse, there are also two headings at the top of the spreadsheet. So, how do we deal with this? To solve this problem, we will be using a function called "sequence". First, we will insert a couple of columns and then use the sequence function to create a series of numbers. Next, we will use the "SortKey" function to sort the data based on the numbers we just created. This will bring all the data for each record together, making it easier to work with. We can then delete the extra rows and columns, leaving us with a clean and organized spreadsheet. There are also other ways to solve this issue, such as converting the data to values and then using the sort function. Whichever method you choose, the key is to have a systematic approach to organizing the data. Thank you, Eric, for sending in your question and thank you to all our viewers for tuning in.
