Happy Thanksgiving, to those of you who celebrate it!

And with the explanation on how to use the Clash Blaster Neo done with, I'll say that the decision for which side to pick was pretty easy for me, as I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't like avocado. Maybe it doesn't sound quite as strange elsewhere, but I live in southern California, where avocado is found in most sushi and dominates a lot of restaurant's menus. It's so prevalent, some people don't believe me when I say I don't like avocado. (No offense to peolpe who really like avocados, of course.)

On the other hand, I quite enjoy salsa. When I get a hot dog from 7-Eleven, I put some pico de gallo on it. Pictured on this thumbnail is a special kind of mortar called a molcajete, and my favorite salsa is a type prepared using one. Unfortunately, they got the color of the ink a bit wrong on our side. Salsa is normally not THIS vivid red (even if VividRed herself is adorable). This is closer to the color of chamoy, a Mexican sauce I cannot stand. Chamoy has to be an acquired taste or something.

In any case, here are the matches, and now I can write in more detail for each match.

Match #5
Camp Triggerfish
Splatfest Turf War
Neo Clash Blaster
Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch
Song: "Acid Hues" by Off the Hook
Titles: (none)
Just like in the first game, in Camp Triggerfish, people tend to hang near the other team's side and seem to get convinced they're winning when they're not. It also encourages people to spawn-camp, even though it's not an effective strategy in this game as a whole. When I get to the other side, I check the map frequently to see if anyone's slipped through. On the other hand, BLANKET responded to my "This way!" cry when the opponents were up against our spawn point and provided some much needed assistance. And I super-jumped back to the start later on when I DID see someone had bypassed us.

Match #6
Inkblot Art Academy
Splatfest Turf War
Neo Clash Blaster
Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch
Song: "Ebb & Flow" by Off the Hook
Titles: The Variety Society (Good Guys)
I will never understand the logic of Splatoon 2's matchmaking system. Teams need a balance of inkers and splatters, but we got pcakes and LukeOof who are determined to get to the middle, and I can't ink much, leaving Fox to do inking duty alone. This gave us a massive uphill battle to climb as our opponents took over any space we hadn't claimed for ourselves, and it left me defending our own side from attackers.

Match #7
Humpback Pump Track
Splatfest Turf War
Neo Clash Blaster
Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch
Song: "Ebb & Flow" by Off the Hook
Titles: (none)
That CactsSmokr is something else, because he played really well with the Nautilus 47 prior to this, which is rare. But he was no slouch when he switched to the Blaster here, helping us climb out of the Danger! pit.

Match #8
Shifty Station
Splatfest Turf War
Neo Clash Blaster
Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch
Song: "Acid Hues" by Off the Hook
Titles: The Lady Quartet (Good Guys), The Variety Warriors (Bad Guys)
Well, here's Shfity Station. This is one of the smaller ones, with a lot of Gushers thrown throughout, including (if memory serves me right) never-before-seen horizontal Gushers. Either side can activate them, but only the side whose color it is will be unharmed by it, though it'll still block your way if it's your color. That makes the ones in the middle a wall, essentially, limiting the path to the other side as that one single inkable wall to the left. (The right one makes a great place to put an Ink Mine.) Probably because this is a stage no one here has played on prior to this Splatfest, it creates a lot of dysfunctional, annoying behavior from people who don't really understand this stage, such as a compulsion to activate every Gusher they see (probably how they treat Goldie Hunt too) and to stay on the opponent's side at all times. Easily exploited, however, is that someone who enters a vertical Gusher is likely to travel up to the top, so I aim up there when I see an opponent traveling through one.

You also get to see in this match what it looks like when I got splatted by a Gusher.

Match #9
Manta Maria
Splatfest Turf War
Neo Clash Blaster
Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch
Song: "Acid Hues" by Off the Hook
Titles: The Variety Quartet (Good Guys), The Lady Warriors (Bad Guys)
The role of a Clash Blaster in Turf War is to hang back and catch people who slip through. Apparently, this happens constantly, so my role never gets dull. I still don't like using this weapon much though.

Finally, here are the results:
VOTES - Salsa 57.12% - 42.88% Guac
NORMAL - Salsa 52.47% - 47.53% Guac
PRO - Salsa 54.00% - 46.00% Guac

I did NOT expect a compelte shutout by Team Salsa, even in popularity, considering how overwhelming the avocado presence is where I live. That's when I thought that perhaps it really IS local, as it's hard to find fresh avocado far from where hey're grown. Ah well. Look forward to the next Splatfest!
