CINCINNATI (WKRC) - More hungry people in the Tri-State will have fresh food to eat, courtesy of the federal government.

The government is buying meat, produce and dairy products from farmers who are suffering because of new tariffs. Some of that food will be brought to the Freestore Foodbank, although just how much isn't yet known.

The Freestore will have to raise more money to be able to handle the surplus food.

It supports pantries in 20 counties in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
