Plogging Along: Great Parks offers classes where you can work out and clean up parks

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - There is something new you can do outdoors to help you shape up and slim down, but it's also a great chance to help clean up our community. If you like to jog and care for the environment, Great Parks of Hamilton County is inviting you to combine the two to go plogging. Plogging is where people get a regular run in at the park and pick up trash along the way. This is a fitness craze that is really big overseas right now in places such as Sweden. Fitness specialists along with environmental health experts team up to help with this workout. They are inviting you for several dates to go plogging, beginning Saturday. This is a fitness craze that is really big overseas right now in places such as Sweden. Great Parks is now asking you to join them; all you need is a bag, your running shoes and some gloves. There are three plogging classes you can sign up for so far. The first one is at Fernbank Park Sept. 22 from 8-9:30 a.m. The second will be at Winton Woods on Oct. 6, and the third will be a "plog with your dog" event at Miami Whitewater on Oct. 27.
