12/1/2011, "Speedy", the World's Fastest Passenger Traction Elevator, was put back into commission by the State of Massachusetts. The original Bloggie 3D video, done on the day of reopening, was rejected. When news went around, many people, Dieselducy especially, wanted this done with the TX-10 camera. You can see the Bloggie version, complete with it losing the white-balance again (Purpleville), on my Facebook Profile. This is the 1949 Otis Bottom-Drive Traction Elevator, at 54 Main Street, Leominster, Massachusetts. Originally a department store (Grants, then Savetelli's), it served the lower and upper shopping levels, and the offices on the top level. It's now a multi-use office building, since the late 1980's. It was modernized by Meredith Elevator Company, with wonderful ADAMS fixtures. This lift might've had the black buttons originally. Unfortunately, being the Wintertime, I cannot get home early enough for the famous shaft-lit view, so the ICON Rogue was used to somewhat pull that off. It's nice to have the fastest elevator in the world back up, and running.
