Jim Hammond will continue as Hamilton County Sheriff. With 68 percent of the vote, he won the Republican primary over Chris Harvey, and will run unopposed in August.
Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger defeated his challenger, Basil Marceaux. Coppinger had 15,000 votes. Marceaux earned less than 15 hundred.

In other races, Sabrena Turner captured the District 7 Republican primary for the Hamilton County Commission.
And in Bradley County, voters chose Eric Watson for sheriff over incumbent Jim Ruth.

No Democrat ran in the race, so Watson will be sworn in September 1st.

Residents in the 10th judicial district overwhelmingly voted for new leadership in the district attorney's office.

Steve Crump swept to a crushing victory over Stephen Hatchett.

In Marion County, Major John Graham lost the Democratic primary to David Jackson.

And, two upsets in Grundy County.

Democratic Mayor Lonnie Cleek lost his shot at re-election to Larry Brady.

Also, sheriff Brent Myers lost in the Democratic primary - to Lindell Clint Shrum.
