COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - Brodie knows just what to do for a treat from his owners.

He's only been back home for a couple days. The husky went missing from the family's Colerain Township backyard in February.

Sarah McWhorter spent months looking for Brodie at shelters and posted on Facebook.

"My 3-year-old, my son, every single day he would ask about him. 'Where's Brod? Where'd Brod go? Can we go find him?' And I'm like, 'Bub, he's gone,'" Sarah said. "We just kind of got to the point where after like four months, we were like what more can we do?" McWhorter said.

Tuesday afternoon, Aislinn Wilson's dog let her know they had a visitor on the front porch.

"Gracie was running around the house barking and standing up on the window, and I walked over to the window and looked out," Wilson said.

Gracie and Brodie were fast friends.

Meanwhile, Wilson started posting pictures and looking for posts about the husky. She said, "I dug through and found a really old post."

Wilson found McWhorter's post and matched the dog's markings in the picture to the husky that came to her home. Wilson believed that it was the right dog and called McWhorter.

Within a half-hour, McWhorter was reunited with a dog she thought she'd never see again.

Wilson said, "She cried and she hugged him, and I was just -- it felt really right. I was really glad that they could get back together and that he could get home after all of that time."

"It's a mindblowing thing to know that a dog after seven months remembers who you are," said McWhorter. "And I grabbed Brodie, and I threw him in the car, and I was like, 'Easton, who's in here?' and he looked and he was half asleep and he was like, 'Brodie!' I was like, 'I know!'"

Wilson cared for Brodie and made sure she found the rightful owner. They're not sure how Brodie traveled so far, but McWhorter is grateful he made it to a good home.

"She was the perfect person to find my dog," McWhorter said.

Wilson says that someone else came to check and see if Brodie was theirs before Sarah came. Wilson is hoping people who see lost pets can play a part in connecting those pets or reuniting those pets with the owners through social media.
