I was relaxing after dinner at home. The breeder called wanting a Caesarean section. Then he phoned asking to wait for 30 minutes to see if the corgi could deliver puppies naturally.  

A 3-year-old Corgi comes in for Caesarean section. 
61st day. 2nd litter. Had C-section by another vet and had 5 pups previously. A long incision from 10 cm down the umbilical scar to the pubis was performed by the first vet.

I incised the skin incision at 1/4 of his incision scar and exteriorise part of the uterine horn with one pup via a 15-cm long skin and linea alba incision. The uterine horns were all looped sideways with 7 pups and so I could not locate the bifurcation of the uterine bifurcation as in dams with smaller number of puppies. 

After exteriorisation of the uterine portion, I incised at the side of the uterus with no blood vessels. Took out the first pup.Then i milk all 6 pups to this uterine incision and handed them to the professional breeder.   

The experienced breeder thinks she has 5-6 puppies. I think it should be an odd number as the abdominal swelling is not symmetrical viewed from above the dog. 
The breeder could not decide on Caesarean section.

There were 7 puppies delivered motionless. It took 30 minutes to get the first puppy to cry.  The  breeder was satisfied as he was very concerned that none of the 7 puppies cried or move when I gave them to him and his 2 helpers.  

I visited the dam and breeder the next day after C-section, on Dec 29, 2015. The dam and puppies were fine and OK. The dam nurses 5 pups while 2 others were nursed by a poodle. The breeder managed to get the poodle that nursed two cavalierXpoodle pups to accepot 2 more corgis. 

I brought the 2 interns to visit the breeder's farm at 10 am on rainy day Dec 29, 2015..   

According to this experienced breeder, William Goh, Corgis have dystocia, unlike some breeds like the Cavalier King Charles.

This breeder demanded good outcome - live pups and dam. He had shown me an image of 8 dead pups. An inexperienced vet did not permit him to see the operation and delivered him 8 dead corgi pups. He was most unhappy. I do allow him to see the operation room while i anaesthesizied the dam but he had to wait outside the surgery room to prevent germs from entering the dam's body while I did the C-section.

He as most pleased with 7 live pups and dam and so had not cursed me.  Inexperienced vet employees will do well not to accept Caesarean sections especially with 8 pups. Most likely that vet had given sedation to the dam and that killed all 8 pups. That seemed to be the logical explanation. Fortunately, this breeder did not sue or complain to the authority. 

With over 100 c-sections done by me, this operation to remove 7 pups took me one hour (skin incised to skin stitched up). An inexperienced vet may take much longer.
