Phillip Sear plays the published piano solo version of this mini-piano concerto from 1950 by the British composer and conductor Peter Yorke (1902-66). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Peter Yorke (1902-66) began his musical career as a dance band arranger in the 1930s, and then, after World War 2 became a composer and conductor of light music, working on various BBC radio shows, including 'Sweet Serenade', 'Our Kind Of Music' and 'The Peter Yorke Melody Hours'. For much more information on him, see https://goo.gl/awjsWD . This solo piano arrangement is not the best of its kind - it is a bit top heavy in places - but nevertheless it corresponds to the orchestral version quite well. The mini-concerto genre was popular in Britain at the time, with works such the 'Warsaw Concerto', 'Cornish Rhapsody', 'Mediterranean Concerto' and 'Alamein Concerto' (to name but a few) achieving great popularity. This one is modelled more on Schumann than Rachmaninov (the model for most such works). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear http://www.psear.co.uk (Email: [email protected] WhatsApp: http://wa.me/441444483794 ) TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@pianogems
