The first event was a circus dumbell (150 lbs)/log press (250 lbs) medley. The dumbbell press went up very easily, its a basic gym lift so I was able to practice it ahead of time. It was my first time working with a log so while there was carryover from working with an olympic bar in the gym the difference in feel was a huge difference. The weight didn't feel all that heavy Just couldn't get the leverage right to move it up from my shoulders. It felt like the weight was going directly into my lower back. Couldn't manage to lock it out.

The second event was the car deadlift. It felt like a variation between a deadlift and a rack pull, the range of motion felt farther than usual, felt like a much longer pull.

The third event was a Yoke Walk (650lb)/ Duck Walk (350lb) medley for time, 50 ft each. It was my first time doing either. Learned them both on the fly and did the best I could. Its a very strenuous event I don"t remember a time I've ever worked my leg muscles that hard.

The Fourth event was a Wheelbarrow loading medley with Kegs (200/250/270 lbs). You have to grab a keg, run it 50 ft load it into the wheelbarrow go back get the next one. Once the wheelbarrow is loaded you run it 50 ft. I wanted to load the barrels in descending order but I messed up and started with the 250, then loaded the 200, then I ran out of time with the 270 about 10 ft from the wheelbarrow. The main problem that arose was about 4, 5 steps in my right hamstring started pulling in slow motion so while it didn't pop ( thank God) I couldn't put a full load on it and kept favoring my left leg. I was able to continue on slowly but the last 30 seconds or so I could barely use it, every movement it just kept pulling tighter and tighter.

Because of the hamstring issue I skipped the last event which was an atlas stone over bar within a given time for reps.

Overall it was a great experience I look forward to taking the next step and finding a strong man gym so i can start training with the increments and really give the sport a shot.
